How to access wage subsidies for student hires
HIRE A STUDENT When you hire a Canadian post-secondary student for an eligible work-integrated learning placement, a portion of your costs can be reimbursed through the Magnet Student Work Placement Program (SWPP). For more information about program eligibility and to get started on your application, visit swpp.magnet.today.
Eligible employers can access up to: $7,500 of wage subsidies for each eligible placement at a rate of 75%.

Select the term that you will be hiring for and click ‘APPLY’
Complete your employer and placement information
Submit your completed application
 Magnet will review and determine whether your application is pre-approved
STEP 2: Hire a Student
Hire a qualified student
Invite your student through the platform to complete their portion of the application
Magnet will review the application for approval
On approval, provide supporting documentation
 If approved, submit supporting documentation, including a placement agreement, once the placement has begun
STEP 3: Complete Reporting and Claim Subsidy
Once the placement ends, submit proof of payment (pay stubs) for the entire period
Submit an invoice to Magnet to receive your payment
